This Privacy Policy explains how the ShopBook mobile application (“ShopBook”, “the app”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use it. ShopBook is a bookkeeping app that helps shopkeepers record customers, credit (udhar), sales, and payments. By using the app you agree to the practices described below.
a) Account information you provide. When you register, we collect your full name, mobile number, email address (optional), password (stored only in a securely hashed form — never in plain text), and shop name.
b) Business records you enter. To provide the service, the app stores the customer and bookkeeping data that you, the shopkeeper, enter — including customer names, phone numbers, email/address (optional), notes, sales/transactions and their item details, payments, balances, and any team members or employees you add.
c) Contacts (optional). If you choose to add a customer from your phone contacts, the app requests permission to read your contacts so you can pick a name and number. Contact data is used only on your device to fill in the customer form and is not uploaded in bulk, sold, or shared. You can decline this permission and enter customers manually.
d) Diagnostic data. We use Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics to collect crash reports and basic, aggregated usage/diagnostic information (such as device model, operating-system version, and app events) to keep the app stable and improve it.
We do not sell your personal information. Information is shared only:
Your data is stored on our application server and is associated with your account. Passwords are stored using strong one-way hashing. Access to your shop’s data requires authentication. While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Within the app you can edit or delete records, including permanently deleting a customer along with all of that customer’s sales and payments. To request deletion of your entire account and associated data, contact us at the email below and we will process the request within a reasonable period.
ShopBook is a business tool intended for shopkeepers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.
You may access, correct, or delete your information through the app, or by contacting us. You may also withdraw permissions (such as Contacts) at any time in your device settings.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, through the app or store listing.
