This policy explains what the Voter App collects, why, and what happens
to it. It covers both the Android application
(com.voterapp.mobile) and the website.
The app is operated by the administrator reachable at 8447885185 / 8920696681 / 7668981129.
Who this app is for
The Voter App is a private tool for authorised users to look up publicly published electoral roll information for the Gram Panchayat they are assigned to. Accounts are created by, or approved by, the administrator. It is not a general-purpose public app, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Election Commission of India or any government body.
Information about you, the account holder
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Mobile number (used as your username) | To identify your account and let you sign in |
| Full name | Shown in the app and to the administrator |
| Password | Stored only as a salted cryptographic hash, never in readable form |
| Assigned Gram Panchayat | Determines which electoral roll you are permitted to see |
| A random device identifier | To enforce the limit on how many devices one account may use |
| Sign-in count, last sign-in IP address | Account security and abuse prevention |
| Google account identifier and email address (only if you use “Continue with Google”) | To sign you in with Google. The email address is kept for support; your Google password is never seen by the app |
| Approximate area (optional, Android app only) | Shown to the administrator; see “Approximate location” below |
| Install identifier, app version, notification setting, install referrer, notification token | To deliver notifications and count app installs; see “Notifications and sharing” below |
| Payment status and transaction reference | To confirm your subscription is active |
The device identifier is generated randomly on first run. It is not an advertising ID, and it is not derived from your hardware, IMEI or any other permanent device property.
Electoral roll information about other people
The app displays electoral roll entries — name, relation name, house number, EPIC number, age, gender, ward and serial number — for the Gram Panchayat your account is assigned to. This is information about third parties, not about you.
- This information originates from publicly published electoral rolls.
- It is loaded by the administrator. The app does not collect it from you, and you cannot add, edit or delete it.
- You can only see the Gram Panchayat your account is assigned to. That restriction is enforced on the server, not in the app.
- It is never used for advertising, profiling, or sold to anyone.
If you use this app, you are responsible for handling that information lawfully, including any obligations under applicable Indian data protection and election law. Do not redistribute it or use it for any purpose you are not entitled to.
Offline copy stored on your device
The Android app keeps a copy of your Gram Panchayat's electoral roll in a private database on your phone. This is what lets it work at a polling booth or in a village where there is no mobile signal, and it is why searching is instant rather than waiting on the network.
- Only the roll for the single Gram Panchayat your account is assigned to is stored — never any other panchayat.
- The copy is held in the app's private storage area, which other apps on the phone cannot read.
- It is deleted automatically when you sign out, when your session expires, and when you change your password. It is also replaced if your account is moved to a different Gram Panchayat.
- It is never uploaded anywhere, never shared with any third party, and no copy is made outside your device.
- You can refresh it at any time from the roll screen, which also tells you how old the stored copy is.
Because this places third-party personal information physically on your phone, keep the device locked and do not share it. If you lose the phone, sign out from another device or contact the administrator so your session can be ended.
The website does not store the roll on your computer; the offline copy applies to the Android app only.
Approximate location
The Android app can send your approximate area to the app owner, so they can see roughly where the accounts they have issued are being used. The app asks for this the first time you open the voter list, explains what it is for, and only then shows Android's own permission dialog.
- It is optional. If you choose "Not now", the app works exactly as it does otherwise — nothing is restricted, and you are not asked again.
- It is approximate, not precise. The app requests coarse location only and rounds the position to about one kilometre before sending it. What is stored is a neighbourhood such as "Vrindavan, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh", never a street address or an exact point.
- Only while the app is open. There is no background or continuous tracking. A position is read when you open the roll and at no other time.
- It is not a movement history. Each reading replaces the previous one. Only the most recent approximate area is kept, not a trail of where you have been.
- Only the app owner can see it. It is shown on the owner's user-management screen. Other users cannot see it, and you are not shown your own.
- It is never sold, never shared with any third party, and never used for advertising.
You can withdraw permission at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Voter App → Permissions → Location. The app then stops sending it. To have the area already on file erased, contact the administrator using the details on the "About & Sources" screen.
The website does not collect location; this applies to the Android app only.
Notifications and sharing
The Android app can show notifications from the administrator — announcements, reminders, festival greetings, a notice when a newer version is available, and a reminder before a Google Play subscription ends. Notifications contain only general text written by the administrator or the app; they never contain electoral roll information.
To deliver them, and to count how many phones use the app, the app sends the server:
- A random install identifier, generated on the phone the first time the app runs. It is not an advertising ID and is not derived from your hardware; reinstalling the app produces a new one.
- The app version, and whether notifications are allowed on the phone.
- If you installed the app from a link someone shared, the Google Play install referrer, which tells us only which account shared that link.
- When you are signed in, a notification token from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, so reminders meant for your account (such as your subscription ending) reach your phone. It is deactivated when you sign out.
Notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging, a Google service; Google processes the token and the message text only to deliver it. The app also checks for new notifications in the background every few hours, which needs no information about you.
Sharing. The “Share” button opens your phone's own share menu with a link to the app on Google Play. When you are signed in, that link carries your account number, so the administrator can see how many new installs came from your shares. Nothing else about you is in the link, and nothing is sent unless you choose to share it.
You can turn notifications off at any time in Android Settings → Apps → Voter App → Notifications. The app keeps working normally.
Payments
Subscriptions purchased inside the Android app are processed by Google Play. Payments made through the website are processed by Razorpay. We never receive or store your card number, UPI PIN, bank credentials or any other payment instrument details.
We store only what is needed to confirm your subscription: the payment or order reference, the amount, and the expiry date.
How information is protected and shared
- Traffic is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. If a secure connection cannot be established, the app warns you clearly on screen before continuing.
- Sign-in tokens are held in Android Keystore-backed secure storage on your device.
- Data is held on a server operated by the administrator. The Android app additionally keeps an offline copy of your own Gram Panchayat's roll on your device, as described above.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- Information is disclosed to third parties only where the law requires it.
The app contains no advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, and no tracking for advertising purposes. It uses Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging only to deliver notifications.
How long information is kept
Account information is kept for as long as your account exists. Payment records are kept as long as required for accounting and dispute resolution. Sign-in session records are removed automatically after a period of inactivity. The offline roll copy on your device is erased as soon as you sign out or your session ends.
Your choices
- Access or correction — contact the administrator to see or correct what is held about you.
- Deletion — you may request that your account and its data be deleted; see Delete your account and data below. Records required for financial or legal reasons may be retained.
- Signing out — signing out releases the device slot held by your account.
- Cancelling a subscription — manage or cancel it in Google Play. Access continues until the paid period ends.
To make any of these requests, contact 8447885185 / 8920696681 / 7668981129.
Delete your account and data
You can ask for your Voter App account and its data to be deleted at any time:
- Call or WhatsApp the administrator on 8447885185 / 8920696681 / 7668981129 from the mobile number your account is registered with, and say you want the account deleted.
- The administrator confirms the account is yours and deletes it within 30 days, and tells you when it is done.
Deleted: your account (mobile number, name, password hash, assigned Gram Panchayat), the link to your Google account and its email address, your approximate area, your device slots and notification tokens, and the record of which account your app installs belong to.
Kept: payment and subscription records, for as long as accounting and dispute-resolution rules require; they are then deleted.
The offline copy of the roll on your phone is erased as soon as you sign out. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on the phone.
Children
This app is intended for adults carrying out electoral roll work. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
